INTRODUCTION Recover My Files is an excellent data recovery tool designed to restore data lost due to accidental deletion, formats, virii, and many other circumstances. Recover My Files searches for lost data at the sector level, a feature found in advanced file recovery software. Recover My Files is compatible with FAT 12, FAT 16, FAT 32, and NTFS file systems, assuring usability with earlier versions of Windows and Windows NT. Additionally Recover My Files is compatible with an assortment of removable media and peripherals. A trial version of Recover My Files is availible at www.recovermyfiles.com. The trial version allows you to search for lost data, giving you an idea of what can be recovered by registering the software online for a very reasonable price of $69.95. INSTALLATION & SETUP Installation of Recover My Files is a very smooth simple process, guided by a convenient step by step wizard type system. Immediately upon installation a warning is posted, explaining that installing Recover My Files to a drive with data loss can result in permanent loss of said data. This warning is very important, because when a file is lost or deleted, it still exists in entirety on the hard drive, but is no longer indexed in the file allocation table. No file is ever truely deleted until the section of media it resides upon has been overwritten by another piece of data. For this reason there is a download and installation option to run the program directly from a floppy disk or CD-ROM drive. Once the installation has completed, you will find yourself selecting the depth of lost file searching to be performed. By thrusting the user directly into the wizard-driven file recovery process, the software eliminates the possiblity for confusion. (See fig 1.0)

INTERFACE AND FUNCTIONALITY One very important advantage that Recover My Files has over the competition is the simplistic nature of the program. Every step from installation to recovery is wizard driven and self explanatory. Recover My Files is the first piece of software to offer sector level data recovery in a package that just about anybody can understand. In figure 1.1 you can see how easy it is to select filetypes to search for. There is a very long list of filetypes, and you can add any that you may be looking for that the software does not already have listed. After selecting the types of files you would like to recover, clicking the start button begins the process of finding your lost files. Fig. 1.1
I performed a "Complete Search" on my computer for a few common filetypes like MP3 audio. The search completed in about 11 minutes, which may seem long, but that is likely due to over 10000 files being deleted off my harddrive in the recent months. Fig 1.2
After the search is completed there is a organized display of the programs findings, listing files found, condition of files found, and other information found in Fig 1.3 Fig 1.3
In addition to the information shown above, you can also view a preview of any images recovered, a very useful function, especially if the integrity of the recovered files is in question. Comparison between Recover My Files and Get Data Back (FAT)

CONCLUSION Recover My Files is an excellent piece of data recovery software, especially for those who would be confused by more complicated programs. Recover My Files keeps everything very simple and straightforward, guiding the user through the file recovery process. This software is the only way to acheieve sector level recovery in an easy to use format, a feature some would not expect to find in such easy to use software.
