Internet Deadbolt 2.0

Client:

Internet Deadbolt Client is a simple program to control access to internet sites from the individual desktop. It allows network administrators to limit internet browsing to a select group of work related sites. The interface is very clean and straightforward for managing the allowable sites.

The main tab in the Client is where allowable sites will be entered. There are three tabs across the top, the first sets allowable sites, the second allows you to set an administrator password and the third provides information about the program. A nice feature of the program is that you can set the password to be masked when entering it. This is a nice consideration as this will be managed from the end user’s location occasionally.

A real advantage to the program is that it is fully accessible remotely. So once this is installed it is a simple matter to manage a dispersed networking environment from a centralized location. This program will make administering any network with internet access a much simpler task. I definitely recommend this to any network administrator.

Server:

Internet Deadbolt Server is going to be a welcome addition to the repertoire of any network administrators “tool chest”. This program is used in conjunction with the associated client to manage desktops in a networked environment. The interface is a simple 3-tab configuration just like the client.

The first tab manages the clients that have been added to the server, the second controls administration of the server tool, and the third is an ‘About’ tab to get information about the company the developed the program. The interface is very simple and intuitively setup, the options available for the administrator are clear and easy to access. Everything from adding requested urls, to reviewing the logs on any of the attached clients. A nice touch is the group of access buttons that stays available on the bottom of the screen no matter what tab is currently up.

Internet Deadbolt Server is well designed to allow an administrator to keep track of Internet activity across a network and make modifications on the fly. The software installs in seconds and does not require a reboot to be used. This program is a simple and easy solution to what can be a messy and complex problem.
