INTRODUCTION
Tired of getting lost while trying to keep track of the bugs in your software or desktop application?  Jackal Software has come out with a great 'bug tracking' software called BugAware.  Great looking software that is easy to use and has tonnes of features.  Can it get any better?  Read on and find out!

INSTALLATION
Installation?  Says who?  One of the best features that I loved about this software is the fact that you don’t even need to install BugAware on your computer, as they have a very fast ASP driven version.  If you wish to install it, they still have the downloadable version too.  Start screen (fig 1.1)

CONFIGURATION
BugAware has made this software extremely easy to setup, especially the ASP version.  The only real setting up that you will need to do is fill out the required information in order to login to the ASP version and you’re done.  It automatically knows that you are the admin user and assigns the access accordingly.   When signing in you will notice an 'Admin' section where you can setup several options (fig 1.2) like user management, role management and even user migration.  The BugAware system is even customizable, in the system configuration tab you can change the drop downs (when creating new tasks) to custom fit your business or organization.

INTERFACE
The main interface is simple and easy to navigate.  All of the menus are clearly shown on the top of the window.  No fancy graphic or buttons does take away from the look of it, but on the other side it increases the speed of the software, not having to load up images with every page.  The color scheme is nice and easy to read and isn't hard on the eyes.  All of the colors are also fully customizable to what you like.

FUNCTIONALITY
BugAware truly has everything you could ever need in a bug reporting software.  If you find that you need to change a few things around to suit your company, it's pretty much fully customizable.  Personally I really like this feature; it really makes the software more marketable to a very dynamic world that we live in.

Here are the question that you are asked in the 'add a new task' section :(fig 1.3)

FIG1.3

1. Select the system
2. Select the type of task
3. How urgent is the task?
4. Assign task to
5. Select stakeholders (optional)
6 What version is the system? (Optional)
7. Enter a related link or Task ID (optional)
8. Enter a brief summary
9. Enter a detailed description

When it comes to something going wrong with software, these are certainly the right questions to ask and of course the drop downs for these questions can be fully customized.  The sort and search function of BugAware is great, the search box is conveniently located just on the top left of the main screen.  Just to the right of that you can sort by 'My tasks', 'Assigned tasks' or both.

Another great feature BugAware offers is the fact that managers can easily view their staff assigned and requested tasks and email alerts provide instant notification of change and task assignment.  This way management will always be in the loop and informed of what’s going on with the software.

Here are a few assigned tasks, colored for priority(fig 1.4)

EASE OF USE
It took less than minute to create an account to use the ASP version of BugAware and I was ready to start adding users or inputting tasks.  I then proceeded to change a few options and I was all set up.  However, if you should ever need assistance with the setup or just any questions in general,  on the top right there is a ‘FORUMS’ button which, when clicked, will bring you to the  BugAware community forums.

CONCLUSION
As a software developer myself, this is great software to track the bugs you may get in your software.  This would be also great to track beta versions of your software.  Whether you’re a fortune 500 company, or if it less then 10 people, this software is geared to manage any level of software & program development, tracking its issues accurately. To conclude I strongly recommened this software to any developer out there, there's nothing worse then
